“How can you espouse genuine equality if you don’t allow gay people the same rights to get married as straight people?”

If you disagree with so-called gay marriage, you better have a good, thoughtful, and convincing answer to this question: “How can you espouse genuine equality if you don’t allow gay people the same rights to get married as straight people?” (Piers Morgan).

What do you guys/gals think?

I want to ponder this one and have a good answer that blesses those who disagree with me in a way that causes them to think well and truthfully about the issue. Thabiti’s thoughts are a good place to start.
