Making Disciples, Multiplying Churches: 11 Exhortations to Pastors and Church Leaders

  1. Let’s call people to total abandonment for the glory of Christ – Followers of Jesus don’t always know where they are going. They know who they are with.
  2. Let’s call people to humble dependence on the grace of Christ.
  3. Let’s call people to urgent obedience to the mission of Christ. How is your personal evangelism ministry? If you’re a pastor and/or leader, you must be evangelizing and engaging non-Christians.
  4. Let’s call people to confident trust in the authority of Christ.
  5. Let’s send out ordinary Christians from the church to do extraordinary things for the Kingdom.
  6. Let’s embrace suffering as a God-ordained means for the accomplishment of the great commission. – Satan’s strategy to stop the church will ultimately serve to spread the church.
  7. Let’s penetrate lostness through externally-focused intentionally-faithful proclamation of the Gospel (47:27).
  8. Let’s go aggressively after spiritual need in the world while we give sacrificially to physical need in the world (50:42).
  9. Let’s love the glory of God more than we love our own lives (52:26)
  10. Let’s fast and pray in desperate dependence on the Holy Spirit.
  11. Let’s trust that making disciples inevitably leads to multiplying churches.
