Adding a New Verse to “Worthy is the Lamb”

As I prepare to preach on Mark 11.1-11 at CrossView Church this Sunday, I’ve been thinking about how we apply the crowds cries of “Hosanna!  Save Us!  Blessed is he who comes in the name of YHWH!”

One way is to look forward to the second coming when the Lord Jesus comes, finally saves us, and brings in the new creation (the consummated kingdom).  I’ve appreciated, for a while now, how some hymns end with a verse on the second coming or Christian hope.  I should hope in Christ and look forward to his second coming more and more.   I don’t feel the increased urgency as we move closer and closer to this Day.  So I’ll preach on it, live on it, and sing about it.  This Sunday we’ll try this verse I wrote when we sing, “Worthy is the Lamb.”

Thank you for this hope, Lord

Thank you that the Day draws near

Put an end to sin and hate!

We watch and wait

To reign and see you face to face
